We do our part for the climate and the environment

In view of climate change and limited resources, we take seriously our great responsibility to act in an ecologically sustainable manner. We consistently reduce CO2 emissions, save energy and use green technologies to protect the climate. Our production has been CO2-neutral at all locations since 2021.

Emission reduction

By joining the Science Based Target Initiative (SBTi), we have committed to reducing our emissions by 4.2 percent annually until we reach our target of climate neutrality in 2050.

Energy savings

By consistently expanding efficient technologies, we are saving energy and driving forward the replacement of CO2-intensive systems.

Waste avoidance

We are constantly working to increase our recycling rate and avoid waste. Among other things, by focusing on the correct separation of materials.

We have been increasing our energy efficiency for many years to ensure a responsible and environmentally conscious use of natural resources – with a versatile energy concept and our mobility concept, which offers employees attractive mobility alternatives.

Energy Concept

The building blocks of our sustainable energy concept

We attach great importance to sustainability at our locations

Green electricity from hydropower

We use geothermal energy to generate renewable energy at several of our locations. We have been purchasing electricity exclusively from certified green sources since 2014.

Ecological and energy-efficient construction

We construct site extensions and new buildings to at least the energy-efficient KfW 55 standard.

Energy from our own source

With four combined heat and power plants, two of which run on biogas, and photovoltaic systems on roofs and facades, we are able to generate energy ourselves.

Expanding green technologies

We optimize our energy balance by constantly expanding efficient and resource-saving technologies.

Generating energy from waste heat

We use waste heat potential to generate energy by recovering heat using highly efficient pumps.

Control effectiveness

We can measure, evaluate and control our consumption at more than 1,000 measuring points in the supply of natural gas, electricity, water, nitrogen, steam, compressed air, biogas, geothermal energy and temperature at any time.

Mobility concept

The building blocks of our mobility concept

We are supporting the electric bike rental system in Ravensburg and Weingarten with three new
stations for electric bikes.

Bicycle and e-bike leasing via JobRad

Since introducing the JobRad offer, we have already leased more than 2,700 bicycles and e-bikes for our employees.

Bicycle-friendly infrastructure

We are developing a bicycle-friendly infrastructure We now offer more than 700 covered bicycle parking spaces, charging facilities and repair stations as well as showers as standard equipment in new buildings.

An app for the mobility mix

Our employees can use a mobility app to rent e-bikes or easily network for carpooling.

Free Germany ticket

To make the switch to public transport more attractive, we cover the cost of the Deutschland-Ticket for our employees.

Mobile working

Employees who do not have to be on site every day are given a laptop so that they can work flexibly from home and save on commuting.

Charging points for e-cars

For motorized, yet climate-friendly mobility, we currently operate 16 charging stations with a total of 32 charging points for electric vehicles at our main location.

Awards

Sustainable mobility – Award-winning

With our mobility concept, we have enable employees to enjoy a healthy and sustainable mobility mix and also achieved recognition at the DB Mobility Climate Challenge. We took 1st place in the "Commuter mobility" category in 2022. In addition, the state of Baden-Württemberg awarded us the "Wir machen Verkehrswende" (We're making changes in traffic) prize for the interplay of the individual mobility modules.

In our third Sustainability Report for 2023, we take a transparent and detailed look at the measures and initiatives that we as a company are taking strategically to counteract climate change, protect the environment, uphold human rights and act in a socially sustainable manner.
