My name is Felix Ungermann, and I work at Vetter as a Team Manager in Aseptic Production. Here I'll tell you more about my work.

Who are you and what do you do at Vetter?

My name is Felix Ungermann, and at Vetter, I am Team Manager in Aseptic Production at the Ravensburg South site.

How did you start down this job path?

I was already interested in biology and health in particular when I was at school. That's why I studied pharmaceutical technology at Sigmaringen University of Applied Sciences after leaving school. I first came into contact with Vetter in 2015 - as part of an internship, I was able to see how a new production group was being set up. It's an experience that has shaped me to this day. I joined the company as a Shift Coordinator in 2017 and have been a Team Manager since 2019.

What did you do before that?

As I said, I started and completed a degree after school. However, Vetter was already involved at the time, as I had the opportunity to write my Bachelor's thesis here. And then I move directly from the lecture hall into the lab, so to speak.

What does a typical workday look like for you?

My normal working day starts with the shift handover. It is important for bringing the team up to speed and exchanging information about production. This is followed by a qualified review, a meeting in which the previous shifts are analysed for the deviations and faults. But all the important information for the upcoming shifts is also discussed together. The aim of team management is always to optimise processes as far as possible so that production runs safely and efficiently and all specifications are observed. I then take part in a short planning meeting in which we discuss the current status of production and any necessary adjustments to the production plan. And then, of course, I am available to my team in production as a contact person to clarify in direct dialogue which details in the processes run better and how disruptions can be avoided.

The most important point is definitely that you are good at communicating. You need to have an open ear for the people on your team, but also have a practical understanding of the information that is passed on during a shift handover. And, of course, you have to be a team player. You are a manager, and you must be aware that production is only possible if the team works as a team.

Why would you recommend your job to other people?

For the reasons that I value it myself. You take responsibility and work as a role model for your team. This means that, on any given morning, you don't know how your day will go. New issues keep coming up, and you are always working on solutions in dialogue with others.

What else did you have to learn for yourself?

In principle, I am a well-structured person, but I have still made real progress in this area. Clarity is crucial: you need to be able to absorb and categorise information quickly, evaluate facts and develop suggestions.

There are the benefits here at Vetter. Do you use them?

Yes. And in this context, I would particularly like to mention the new benefit of supplementary health insurance, a perfect addition to personal health insurance, regardless of whether it is organised by the state or privately.

What do you like about Vetter?

For me, two aspects come together. On the one hand, we are a company that is characterised by a family culture. People know each other, even across departments. Secondly, we are consistently on course for growth. And this not only offers security, but also the opportunity to develop personally within the company. And I really am a good example of that!

Now I have to go back to my time as an intern. I was able to see how a new clean room was created, a room in which highly sensitive products can be filled under sterile conditions. My favourite experience is the commissioning of this clean room. Seeing the filling process start to work, holding the finished product in your hand and knowing how much benefit it will bring to people - that was a powerful experience.
