People at Vetter – Angie Sophia Mackert, Warehouse Logistics Apprentice

Angie Sophie Mackert macht bei Vetter eine Ausbildung zur Fachkraft für Lagerlogistik

Thinking and acting: Angie Sophia Mackert is learning to be a Warehouse Logistics Specialist because it engages both body and mind.

Who are you? Which apprenticeship are you doing at Vetter?

My name is Angie Sophia Mackert, and I started my training to be a Warehouse Logistics Specialist at Vetter.

Why did you choose this apprenticeship?

It runs in our family. My mother works in warehouse logistics for a large automotive company, and I got a glimpse of this line of work as part of an internship. I liked it so much that I decided to follow in her footsteps.

How was the onboarding event?

Cool. Vetter is somehow its own world, which we got to know intensively during the two-day onboarding event. You quickly get to know the company and its unique culture, and you get a good overview so that you understand the broader context in which your work is embedded.

How did your onboarding go?

It was also cool. The funny thing is that I’m part of the group of first-year apprentices at Vetter. We were immediately integrated into the process and took on responsibility for our tasks. That makes it fun to be an apprentice!

What do you value about the profession you are pursuing?

Definitely the combination of physical and mental work. In the warehouse, you not only need to exert yourself physically, but should also think fast with a clear head, because you have to be perfectly organized to deliver everything from A to B on time. Unfortunately, the bias is still there that this job is better suited for men. I wish more women would try entering this exciting profession.

What’s been a highlight so far?

My highlight is the team, and I see them here every day. They make me feel very welcome and give me the support I need when problems that I can't yet solve myself come up.

What's next for you?

Warehouse logistics at Vetter has many distinct aspects, and it's important for me to get to know them all. There are packages that we deliver within the non-classified area, i.e. inside very ordinary rooms. And then there is the restricted access area, with its own strict hygiene requirements. We also have to deal with international delivery routes. One of our tasks is to prepare customs documents. It's nice to think that I belong to a global network that looks after people's health.
