What is recruitment fraud?
We have been alerted to the misuse of our company name and logo in the context of fake job advertisements and interview invitations. Fraudsters contact jobseekers unsolicited through messenger and online services, social media, and fake websites. They are trying to broker alleged positions with Vetter or are allegedly inviting interviews on behalf of Vetter. The fraudsters often impersonate themselves as Vetter employees. The aim of this recruitment fraud is to obtain sensitive personal information or money.
Warning signs: These allow you to detect fraudulent job advertisements and offers
There are some warning signs indicating recruitment fraud or fraudulent communication:
- The email was not sent from an official Vetter domain, but from free web-based email accounts such as Web.de, Gmail, Apple Mail or Outlook.com.
- You will be asked to pay in the email or alleged interview e.g., visa or immigration fees for jobs abroad, taxes, travel costs for upcoming interviews.
- In the email history or the alleged interview, bank details or other sensitive information about an alleged verification of your person, your bank details, or for settlement with a later payment will be requested.
- In the course of communication, copies of your identity card, driver's license or employment certificates will be requested from you, which must be submitted at short notice in return for an employment contract.
- As part of the communication, you will be pressured or instructed to act quickly, otherwise the position would no longer be available or would be assigned elsewhere.
- Vetter's alleged job ad is not available on our career page. In addition, fake job advertisements and emails often contain spelling and grammar errors and use poorly formatted graphics and documents.
Important note
At Vetter, we process applications exclusively through our applicant system. Our recruitment team will never ask you by phone or e-mail for personal and sensitive data such as account details, passport or ID information, and birth certificates.
What can you do if you suspect fraud?
If there is any suspicion, do not respond to the fraudsters. If you suspect recruitment fraud and if Vetter is mentioned in the communication or in an alleged job advertisement or employment contract, or if our logo is used, please contact our Information Security team.
In addition, immediately contact your local police department and, if necessary, your bank. Your help is essential to stop this type of fraud and to identify the perpetrators.
Please note that Vetter has nothing to do with these illegal activities. Vetter takes such fraudulent activities very seriously. We took immediate action upon becoming aware.
