Darko works in production at Vetter and produces the desired solutions under strict hygienic conditions. What does a typical workday look like for you?

Who are you and what do you do at Vetter?

My name is Darko Kanja, I am 40 years old, and I work at Vetter in production, more precisely in the production of compounding.

Why did you choose this job?

I've already worked at Vetter in production and then stumbled over this job. I found the job exciting and decided to move forward in that direction.

What did you do before your time with Vetter?

Just school, I've been on board here for 20 years. Actually, it was planned that this would be a typical transition job, i.e., work for a few months, earn a bit of money and then keep looking. But then I liked it so much that I stayed here and felt comfortable to this day. I entered production at the time and then worked in optical control for nine years. Then I qualified with an IHK (Chamber of Industry and Commerce) course for the job I still do today.

How does the application process work?

I'm sure it's very different from what's going on today. I gave my application to an acquaintance who was with Vetter, and I got a call shortly afterwards that they wanted to meet me. The interview took place in a relaxed atmosphere and ended with the question of whether I could start the next Monday.

What does a typical workday look like for you?

In the compounding production, everything must be strictly according to plan. We work in teams of two and go through our tasks of the day first thing in the morning. Then we go to the production facility, where we produce the desired solutions under strict hygienic conditions. I always describe it to friends like this: imagine two cooks are cooking a dish together – one reads, the other prepares. Only that, unlike cooking, we have to strictly adhere to the specifications.

What should people know how to do particularly well in this job?

On the one hand, work reliably and accurately. Precision is incredibly important in manufacturing. And then you should be able to communicate because, as I said, we always work in a team and have to communicate clearly and well.

What do you find good about your job?

The variety. We manufacture many different products, because every day there are different tasks on the list. And then the responsibility you take. I'm really proud to be involved in producing medicines that help people.

What does your team look like?

That we can get along really well and fully rely on each other.

What challenges does your job bring?

The biggest one is that you need to be able to concentrate for a long time. If a manufacturing process is on, you can't just stop it. You have to stay there until it's finished.

Why is Vetter a good fit for you?

For 10 years, I have not known my production site without a construction site because we are constantly developing and growing. It gives me the good feeling of having ended up with a secure employer.

There are the benefits here at Vetter. Do you use them?

Yeah, I'm riding a JobRad. And I've already used one or the other discount we get here at local partners. I am also interested in the EGTM Wellpass, i.e., access to the gym.

What's your best experience with Vetter?

There have been so many good things… But the feeling of happiness was outstanding when I worked on an audit under the supervision of an audit authority and everything worked perfectly. I was very proud of that.
